On the valuable advice of my cousin and a dear friend, I went to meet a family of Indian jewelers, passing down their know-how from generation to generation, in the cradle of silver creations: Rajasthan.

This is how I ended up travelling to the confines of this amazing country, to the walled city of Jaisalmer.

For seven unforgettable days, I had the privilege of working alongside the three Soni brothers. I followed Roop through the twists and turns of creating one of their famous rings. They engrave the history of their city as well as global icons such as the Eiffel Tower, the Taj Mahal, or the Sydney Opera House…

Their remarkably fine craftsmanship, as dazzling in its creativity as in its technical mastery, comes to life in conditions worthy of master yogis. Sitting cross-legged, they use tools from another time, such as welding with an oil lamp or drilling with an old fashioned 'drill'.

I came away from this experience amazed by so much ingenuity and know-how!
